ABOUT THE BRAND:

The Brand Origin:
My name is Heidi and I founded Ebony Fawn in Summer 2022. The brand began with my love and passion for interiors and styling. Having moved in to my first home in the midst of the pandemic, not only did I want a creative outlet as a passion project whilst working full time in a hospital, I quickly realised the pieces I wanted to dress my home with, I just couldn't find on the high street. Having always been creative and never afraid of DIY, I decided to give my first vase up-cycle a go. I sourced an old, unloved floor-standing vase, and using leftover paint from decorating and a sprinkle of baking soda, I transformed the vase and stood it proudly in my home. I couldn't believe how much character and timelessness it gave the space, and I was equally transfixed on how much I enjoyed the creative process. It truly felt like I'd found my niche ...
Fast forward a few months and I had gathered a selection of pottery to transform, one by one I let my creativity lead the way and my first collection of up-cycled pottery were ready to be shown to the world.
The Brand Now:
I launched Ebony-Fawn and slowly people started discovering what I do and the excitement was another level, it felt like this is what I was meant to be doing. This excitement led me to new avenues like hand-painted textured artwork and handmade papier mache bowls. I resigned from my NHS job in January 2024 and persued Ebony Fawn full-time, a leap of faith paired with immense passion and drive.
Fast-forward to now and the brand is still to this day heavily focused around my up-cycled pottery. In recent months, I noticed my interior style begin to steer to a more timeless, slow-living, soulful style, & with that I noticed on several occasions not wishing to alter and transform some of the pottery I sourced. The imperfections and time-worn features I adored. This epiphany led to the introduction of one-off sourced Vintage finds, alongside the up-cycled pieces. I also discovered the difficulty with finding beautiful faux and dried florals to display in the pottery. With realistic stems and features being at the top of my wishlist, I made it my priority to source interesting and realistic faux and dried florals, a perfect accompaniment to the Ebony Fawn vase. The artwork and mache bowls no longer resonated with me as much as the pottery did, which looking back makes sense as it was the pottery that initially lit the fire inside me. With these strip-backs to keep the brand authenticity true to my passions, paired with the new additions, I proudly present Ebony Fawn as a curation of up-cycled pottery, one-off sourced Vintage finds and a selection of faux and dried florals.
The full collection can be shopped online, along with at various curated and maker-style markets throughout the year.
About the brand name:
Ebony-Fawn was a name that when I spoke it out loud for the first time, it just felt right. I pondered on brand names for what felt like an eternity and eventually decided to strip back to basics. The brand aesthetic and colour palette when first founded, were neutral tones and textures, predominantly beige, brown, cream and black ... 'Ebony' and 'Fawn' are simply elegant synonyms for black and beige, and the two words just flowed beautifully together.
I do hope this has given a little insight into Ebony-Fawn and how the brand began. Thank you for reading and your support never goes unnoticed - I am forever grateful for this lovely community of passionate, interior obsessed, lovely, kind people.
I hope Ebony-Fawn trickles in to your interior decor someday soon.
